Author's Note: Set after Jaynestown but before the end of the series, Shepherd Book tells his story. I'm not sure where this drabble came from, but it dropped fully formed into my brain 10 minutes ago.

He wonders, sometimes, when the crew looks at him, if they see how lost he truly is.
He told River once that you don't fix faith; faith fixes you. She just looked at him with those big, unnaturally piercing eyes. He used to think he'd said something useful to her; now, he wonders what she saw in him.
He used to have faith in a lot of things; things he turned his back on when he entered the Abbey, seeking something to believe in.
Now… well, he believes in God.
He's just not sure if God can believe in him.
