Yes, poor Max. But at the same time, by now we're all sort of used to Lorelai being like this.

Jared Padelecki's acting had really gotten better since the early days. Back then, Dean seemed a lot like the Jared we see in the "behind the scenes" stuff. Bluntly, Sam's acted a lot better. There's more depth. Which I suppose is what happens when one grows older in the industry. I like Sam :)
