A random Friday night poll as I watch too much Dr. Who:

[Poll #1139317]

Oh, boring Friday nights without any work functions to go to. My kind of day.

Anita Blake/Torchwood (the fandoms, not the characters getting orgistic)

Ohgod. I have a scary mental image of Captain Jack having to venture into Anita's crotch to rescue his poor team. Ianto would be outside holding the rope, while timing him with a stopwatch. XD

[identity profile] mhalachaiswords.livejournal.com 2008-02-16 06:12 am (UTC)(link)
It's not that bad :P In fact, it won't even involve Anita at all. I'm having a very hard time writing her these days (which bodes ill for Inevitable, sadly)

[identity profile] windiain.livejournal.com 2008-02-16 09:16 pm (UTC)(link)
That's pretty sad. Partly because Inevitable may not be finished, but mostly because you've put so much work in it that it seems a shame you're having a tough time writing Anita and might not finish. Hopefully you'll get your Anita mojo back. Any idea why it's so tough?

[identity profile] mhalachaiswords.livejournal.com 2008-02-16 09:29 pm (UTC)(link)
I'll get Inevitable finished, but what I discovered in my recent attempt to get back to the story is that recent AB canon has made me completely unsympathetic to the person Anita has become. And that impacts the stories I write.

Also, the little dust-up in Jan. 2007 (my mini-rant is here: http://mhalachaiswords.livejournal.com/229778.html) really hit my writing. Since then, I've been hard pressed to write any Anita Blake of substance (and the Anita in Dawning Light is really rather OOC at this point, when compared with the books).

I think this is the first time when my opinion of a character has seriously gone down-hill after reading the author/creator's POV. It's sad but true.

So if Anita in the remaining chapters of Inevitable seems less like the character in the books, that's just the way the chips will fall.

[identity profile] windiain.livejournal.com 2008-02-16 09:36 pm (UTC)(link)
I felt that way about Anita's character for a while (in fact, my own small Anita fic attempts have resulted in her dying in amusing manners both times). If it means anything, one of the reasons I love reading your Anita Blake stuff is because you write the characters how they used to be to me. I used to really like Anita, and to be able to like her in your fics is a fantastic thing.

The wank last year really left a bad taste in my mouth. This makes your fics more amazing, because I found them after that, and was able to enjoy the Anita Blake that was rather than what LKH has made the series into. I thank you for that.

Facebook annoys me to no ends these days. The gazillion invitations I get piss me off. It also pisses me off that Facebook basically encourages that system by making it so that if you want to see your results to tests or quiz, you have to invite at least 10 friends or shit like that.

I mean, it's all useless shit as well. No, I do not want to know what the color of my eyes says about the man I will marry. *facepalm*

[identity profile] philstar22.livejournal.com 2008-02-16 05:11 am (UTC)(link)
Awe. An Anita/Torchwood orgy would be so much fun to read. :( Oh well, I stil voted for that one since I don't know the other fandoms.

[identity profile] mhalachaiswords.livejournal.com 2008-02-16 06:38 am (UTC)(link)
No Torgies today. But I have a load of angst to write, because I love me the angst.

Also, icon love :)

[identity profile] philstar22.livejournal.com 2008-02-17 11:46 am (UTC)(link)
Awe. No orgies. Oh well. Yes, I love that icon too. Lucius always makes for yummy porn.

[identity profile] lizey.livejournal.com 2008-02-17 11:37 am (UTC)(link)
Icon love. Icon giggle, too.

[identity profile] philstar22.livejournal.com 2008-02-17 11:45 am (UTC)(link)
Thanks! I love that one too.

The only reason I keep my facebook anymore is to get contact information for old friends when I need it. It's so obnoxious now.

[identity profile] mhalachaiswords.livejournal.com 2008-02-16 06:55 am (UTC)(link)
"Obnoxious" is why I killed the account in the first place. That, and being cyber-stalked. It occurred to me today that it might be nice to get back into it... but yeah, obviously the excitement is lacking.

But fanfic, that'll always keep going.

[identity profile] deepfishy.livejournal.com 2008-02-16 06:26 am (UTC)(link)
Let me clarify that while I said "yes" to the facebook reactivation, it was more of an "eh". Or possibly "meh". I only use it as alterna-email for close friends (and to play one (-and-only-one) game), so I'm hardly their target market.

Facebook = sure why not. The games are great time wasters!

And omg Flowers in the Attic. A cross with Supernatural would seriously win at life.

[identity profile] mhalachaiswords.livejournal.com 2008-02-16 07:58 am (UTC)(link)
I wasted so much time on Facebook back when I first signed up. Then there was this work thing and I killed the account to keep from wasting more time. I mean, the 30 minz a day I spend checking the flist is bad enough :)

And the best thing about Flowers in the Attic is that it has an even MORE messed up family than on SPN. I'd say for the win, but no one really wins in those stories. I think I was about 12 when I first read FitA and it srsly warped me. Oh, VC Andrews and her ghost writerz.

Facebook I have the same feelings about as above. I keep mine because my son prefers their "messages" to regular email, for some unknown reason. And occasionally someone finds me. I check it daily, for news of the boy, but that's it.

I'd love to see a conversation between Ianto and Nathaniel. Or not even that, just an understanding on what its like loving people who don't singularly love you back and are involved (whether emotionally or not) with other people.

Because Ianto completes me, and I need as much of him as possible.

Or maybe Ianto and Jason, and how they both play a part and yearn for something deeper.

[identity profile] mhalachaiswords.livejournal.com 2008-02-16 08:10 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, Ianto will be involved, as will Nathaniel, but there's going to be such a lovely twist. It's really almost too easy, with what the writers give me :D But I'll let you see how it goes.

And I agree that Ianto is so many kinds of twisted awesome :)

I need an Ianto icon.

I've stopped checking my facebook account. I mean, at first it was fun and all to contact old friends I hadn't seen for a few years - but then it brought home to me just why I hadn't stayed in touch in the first place.

[identity profile] mhalachaiswords.livejournal.com 2008-02-16 08:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, that's totally why I closed out my account in the first place. See, LJ is great for reminding me of these details :D

And re: yr icon -- I love that episode. feisty!Queen V was awesome.

Anita Blake/Torchwood would be a real interesting crossover. Just imagining Anita meeting Captain Jack is hilarious.

I've got Facebook and it's great to keep up with the friends who are o/s but it is a tad irritating. I check it once a day except at the moment I'm addicted to a West Wing trivia Quiz. I CAN'T STOP! Help Me!
