A question to the folks who have read Danse Macabre: I'm on page 269. Is there a point to this book or just more Anita whining about what she's becoming? Like, does anything ever happen?

Don't get me started on Merry Gentry. That series makes the latest AB books look positively taut and well-written.

Merry Gentry isn't bad, just not good. I am in love with Frost though.

Its just that... the first book was SO amazing that the rest of it not being good is just a complete let down. What she did with faery, and the way she managed to create a culture that is so out of norm and almost disturbing for us humans :) (I have just reread the first book in series) It is a very dark series, almost hard to read. (only book that even gets near into that level on the other series is Obsidian Butterfly, Anita Blake just isn't that disillusioned or scarred)

Her caracters including Frost are very nice. She certainly had a good idea of how would a centuries old person would tick.

Then the downhill to the last book that was... uhh... pretty much the quality level of pwp fanfiction with a suprisingly good writing style.

okay I should probably stop filling Mhalachai's lj with this rant. :)

No, rant away. I'm still trying to decide if I should bother to post my feelings on Danse Macabre (which I finished last night), or just do what my mother always said about "if I don't have anything nice to say... Meh.

you should post it...

Even through I personally think I'll still want to read Danse Macabre as soon as possible. For the simple reason that the alternative, the closest thing I can find, is reading junk I find at the romance section which is.... UUUGH!

I completely agree, the last book I felt that I was reading a smut novel since ever chapter Merry was having sex. There was little to no plot development. Hopefully the next installments of both series redeems it.

I keep having this scene running thru my head where Merry & her harem run into Anita & her harem at a resturant or something.

Maybe told from the POV of a waiter or the matre'd.

Oh that'd be hysterical. It could come down to who has the hotter harem. I can see it now Jean Claude vs. doyle, or Asher vs Frost.
